The Resistance to Higher Level Languages

I remember seeing so much amazing stuff from the demo scene back in those days around assembly, future crew was the one that was the most astonishing. They would do these competitions to create the most amazing visual musical demo that they could in assembly. It was like all assembly. And I think part of the resistance to going to higher level languages is because people had worked so hard to make things efficient.
