The Plough Becomes Obligatory

If a technology confers capacity, it also converts intheoretic advantage in a rivalrous context. So if anyone uses it, everybody has to use it or some comparable thing, or they lose. The introduction of the plough actually ended animism, changed value systems to a more utilitarian relationship to other sentient things. And then a whole kind of cultural system that sees everybody else as a utility rather than a subject. All those things emerge from an entire ecosystem and end up predisposing people to certain behavior patterns. It's not just one technology - you get a whole ecosystem of technologies which are part of this Anthropocene.
