Less and less people are inclined to be truckers, but there's still a significant demand for them. The advent of the power steering made driving so easy that anyone could do it. Power steering made things so easy that the value of the truck drivers were devalued in the market. And as a result, over time, they also lost their status which they enjoyed in the 80s and so on.
