The History of the Mohigand Tribe
The German word for nightmare is, elp-druken, which literally means, elf-pressure. It was also believed that elves could actually enter the dreams of a sleeping person and cause nightmares to happen. If so, that might explain the incredibly similar stories that exist among the native tribes of the American Northeast.
