What Does Maintainability Mean?

i've had a few thoughts swirling roud my head about what it means to mainance, ecause i do agree like we need a definition for what that actually is. My sense is that there are two fundamental ways in which we we can think about maintenance. One is fixing bugs, and the other is added featers. And those two things have pretentions involved, right? There's an important commonality between operational characteristics and a development time characteristics. To me, that's failure locality. Its the idea that i want the computers to tell me as closely as possible how the thing is failing so that i can fix it. But maybe where the paths met in the woods at the
