When we talk about COVID as a mass disabling event, it can often lend itself toward forcing that individualistic frame. Ironically, that's actually the discourse and the ideological kind of approach that makes it not possible for us to understand the diversity of human experience. "There's so much more to say here than disability is something that we will all, if we haven't already kind of encounter in our lives," she says.
