The Importance of Corporate Free Speech

The Buckley-Bivollejo ruling kept regulations in place that prevented corporations from spending directly from their corporate coffers to support a candidate. The idea was to limit not only companies, but also unions from overwhelmingly tipping elections. At the federal level, citizens don't vote on particular policies. But at the state level, voters have more say about both regulation and how the state spends its budget.
