The Complications of Language Learning
Australian materialism in its early versions was very much tied into a story about what you're saying when you report. When we learn the language, basically we have to learn it from publicly available cues plus portal hypotheses about the states that underline those cues. So as a theory about the meaning of the word pain, I think it's sort of funkeless story is quite plausible. It does seem reasonable whether you're a physicalist or not to have a conversation about what pain people are making and how they say it.
