Getting Fatiguable Fibers in the Muscles

If you want to hold a pack in running or a bunch in cycling, you have to maintain that pace. We have preferential recruitment of fibers during high intensity exercise. And so one strategy we will use is to recruit slow twitch fibers first. But eventually those slow twitch fibers get fatigued. So when they start to chip in to produce some of that work, because your slow twitch fibers are getting fatigued, then it's a race to the bottom.
