The Story of Andrew Carnegie

Andrew carnegy was having some issues with his steel workers, especially at a steel mill that he had bought in 18 83. He put the situation in the hands of an industrialist, henry clay frick, who fought with union members and led to a catastrophic burst of violent on july sixth of that year between the union strikers and hundreds of agents hired by frick from the pinkerton detective agency. In the end, 16 people were killed in the violence of this action. Stunningly, this was a major short term victory for Frick, who essentially crushed the union and workers rights in this region for a generation or more. So a really ugly period in american labor
