Is There a Mitigated Responsibility?
Matthias: Is there something that we can say about how accountable someone is if they have been scandalized by the actions of the church? And so like given their material and spiritual situation, it's like they're kind of driven away from those instruments to salvation. So very great responsibility of persons in the church who do that. But on the creed, we say the church is one holy Catholic and apostolic. It's constituted of now a billion people, over a billion people. How could it be holy for all sinners? It's the body of Christ and Christ bodies by definition, holy.
