I have a real fondness for stories that are structured as like essays or notes for an essay. I think the Joyce Carol Oates story opened me up to some ideas of, you know, writing something more fragmented and being a little more experimental with what's ultimately a fairly simple story. There is a story that gets a little one-noty, but it's called a like 1000 words on why not to talk during a fire drill. It has all these like sentences that are clearly just trying to build up a word count which is very funny. But then also kind of, I mean, that joke starts to run a little thin, but I do like giving students stuff like that because
