Is Identity Important in a Zero Sum Situation?
When thereis a zero sum situation, when there is some resource at stake, then identity is incredibly important. And people will start to potentially engage in less than pro social, or outright anti social behavior towards one another. In competitive situations, don't just become watchful about other groups, they start to police the boundaries of their own groups. They start making ever finer distinctions between who should be a member and who should not.
