Is It a Fail?
Joseph Smith created fake characters to get Martin Harris to fund the publishing in the book of Mormon. He's making up a language so that then he can claim to translate it, which is potentially fraud. So if you're creating fake characters and inventing a language that doesn't exist and then claiming you can translate from it, that's when you start for me really getting into fraud territory.
