In 1972, in Trujaller, Venezuela, a meteor struck and killed a cow belonging to a local physician. On November 30, 1954, a 9-pound meteorite tore through the roof of Ann Hodges' home in Silacaga, Alabama. Ruth Hamilton from British Columbia had been asleep for hours when she awoke to the sound of her dog barking. A grey charcoal chunk of rock the size of a softball came tearing through Hamilton's roof,. landing in between her pillows just centimeters from where her head had been only seconds earlier.
