What Category Does My Book Fit In?

This is actualy a really common question i get from authors. Ecause they think it's a marketing question. They say, what category does my book fit in? And i never know how to answer this because i know their book is doomed when they ask that question. Every genre, every micro gene have similar expectations. For instance, under action adventure, you have mysteries and you have thrillers. But they are two completely different things. A mystery is, who done it? The reader reads along with the detective.
