The government has until thursday at midnight to pass either spending bills or a short term funding measure that will keep the ment open. So far, they have yet to make progress on this front. When government shut down is a possibility, we oftentimes see like stop gap measures, ways to a kind of hood off tho shut down. But republicans don't want to help democrats suspend the debt limit because they believe democrats are trying to spend a ton of extra money and should own it. The national debt is something that's been a crude a cross presidents, democrat and republican. And it was actually suspended three times during trump's administration.
