How I Approached First Man
I love operating, I feel like I'm connected with the story. It's easier to sort of be there and it's a joy to be by the camera in the scenes,. But for that reason, on La La Land, the same American hustle, lots of steady cam, and we had intention to move a lot. And so I felt like there was better to have an operator. So that itself was interesting to me to go with Damien to First Man with the director. The entire film is like only about the emotional story.
