Popper's Great Controversy
Popper: If you actually went on questioning the times and its correspondence about the sources of their knowledge, you would in fact never arrive at all those observations by eyewitnesses. You would find rather that with every step you take, the need for further steps increases in snowball-like fashion. Popper's just saying, all you reasonably do when presented with an assertion is to check it against something else that's reasonable in the world.
