The Importance of Avoiding Talid
Acy was an extremely influential figure whose works were received, among other places, in sub saharan africa. His intellectual legacy included teachings on taklid by african scholars such as the seventeenth century fulani theologian m med al wali al maliki. He held that there is a universal responsibility laid upon all moslems to avoid talid and become acquainted with argumentative proofs for their beliefs about god. In this sense, even theologians who took the universalist view that all moslems should ground their belief in rational understanding typically had a very illidisposition.
