Padilla's Journey to Angola
Boeing 727 was once part of a fleet owned and operated by American Airlines in the 1970s. The plane had almost all of its 134 seats stripped from the cabin, replaced with giant tanks to haul fuel. A year before Padilla was hired to fix it up, the plane was briefly used to deliver diesel to isolated diamond mines around Angola.
