How to Use a Rollback on a Virtual Machine
If you're trying to get the Next Cloud in this case to update its database, then Option A like Jim was saying is your best bet because that makes sure the two stay in lockstep. But doing something more like Option C where you're using actual ZFS to store the files will give you the option to restore individual files and so on. If you don't know how to do that, and you're only looking for a file or so, it might even make sense just to clone your VM, spin up the clone, get your file back out of that through the standard interface and then destroy that clone. Never go to the rollback right away. Rollbacks are pretty destructive.
