The Importance of Thinking

I think the objective truth is they can solve all kinds of puzzles that we would think require thinking including ones that they haven't been trained on. Of course if you train them on something like playing Go or Chess, then they get superhuman. Now they also can do badly on some of those things and the people who are studying this can see signs of what is lacking. But I can also see all the things that they're doing well which makes me think that part of the equation we've figured out. So it's kind of like the proof is in the pudding. Well that's the only objective thing we can say really.
