Listeria and Foodborne Intolerance
Listeria is a pathogen that could potentially cause quite a lot more morbidity and mortality if a large outbreak were to occur. In 2022, in the US, we saw outbreaks in deli meats and cheeses,. We also saw outbreaks in some soft cheeses like breeze and camemberts and in ice cream. There's been outbreaks in various bagged salads, things that again are prepared and ready to eat. The recommendations tend to be that people who are at high risk, who are immunocompromised or pregnant, should avoid those foods.
