The Los Angeles Port
San Pedro Bay, where the ports are housed is also the terminus of the LA River. The river was channelized and cement by the US Army Corps of Engineers after major floods in the area. They needed the land to be stable and productive for housing and transportation infrastructure. So they put the river in cement and of course that dried up wetlands and, you know, their houses and stuff now in flood.
