A series of articles published by an outfit called the coast porter claimed to expose clara's sordid sex life. The stories were largely untrue and totally absurd. They suggested that she was known to travel down to mexico to participate in orgies with card dealers and female prostitutes. Nothing like this had ever been published before about a movie star.
