What's the Focus on Africa?
The lack of discussion is maybe not so surprising considering how abstruse a lot of the kind of discourses. The vibe you get is that for unlike earlier Chinese leaders, she obviously has everyone knows she is a national security politician. There is some focus on food security and environmental security in the full speech. And then it was also interesting for me that the BRI seemed to be de-emphasised. He didn't mention the BRI very often. I think only there is one little section focusing on it. That's an indicator to African commodities producers that the kind of shutdowns and disruptions in Chinese manufacturing, which has been tough, they're going to be there.
