The National Partnership for Maternal Safety was created to help improve maternal health and safety in the US. The NPMS recommends using the Padua score for patients that are postpartum after vaginal delivery. Now CMQCC also recommends pharmacological thromboprophylaxis for patients who have a postpartum state. If their BMI is greater than 40 and, and there it is, not just it by itself, but if they have an additional risk factor for VTE, like thrombophilia.
