How to Take a Pain History
The location of the headache is kind of where I start because I am trying to localize the source of the pain. But then also I look at the other associated features because, and we'll get a little more into this later, but migraine really is a sensitivity syndrome. It's a sensory phenomenon, not truly headache. Some patients are actually also sensitive to smell or to taste. And so those are not usually prominent features, but they will mention it to you. You may not really know the characteristic of the pain until you've taken that history. So in a younger patient,. they still give you the history because you still know the time you need for them to tell you about their symptoms
