The Uses of a Greedy Cup Siphon
Pythagoras built goblets with a greedy cup siphon in them. The idea was if someone poured themselves too much wine, it would all just drain out onto their tunic. Another place it's used is people are familiar with urinals. You'll know that they flush themselves periodically. That's because the cistern for a urinal is a greedy cup siphon. When the washing machine wants your softener, it adds a bit of water until the siphon is activated. A sock slit extractor can be used to repeatedly soak and drain something.
