Innocent people plead guilty far more often than any one can even imagine. They do that because the going to trial and the possible sentences at the other end are just so overwhelming, they often plead guilty. So many of the people who are brought into the criminal legal systems are poor? And ther are often poor people of color. It's such a huge problem in our legal system. Not enough people are there to stand up for the defendant. When i was a public defender, which was, you know, a job i truly loved, i knew i was the only person in a patched court room that cared about hathappened to my client. That's it.
