The Role of the Relative Strength Index in Technical Analysis

The relative strength index was developed in 1978 by J Welles Wilder. An RSI over 70 has been traditionally considered overbought, which could mean that a stock is poised for a downward trend. On the other end, an RSI under 30 is typically considered over. This is something you'll see thrown out there, but it's not something I pay overly attention to.
