Only twice in 40 years has a bankruptcy resulted in liquidation. Chapter 11 of the united states bankruptcy code was designed to facilitate reorganization, rather than their liquidation. The friction costs of all the professionals involved in a large case can be quite considerable. But judges have gotten relatively goodt policing the running up of unnecessary fees and expenses.
