In the 19th century, obstetrics and ginacology became of professional interest to male physicians. This is really when women's bodies became the objects of medical attention in the sense we know them today. So doctors, physicians, genocologists were specializing in trying to figure out those mysteries and mystifications thay sort have lurked within the female valvet. And by the end of the century, you know, germ theory emerges.

A deeply embedded idea in our culture is the sexist notion that men are the “default” human, and women the unknowable “other". Nowhere is this more visible than in the history of medicine, with disastrous consequences for women’s’ health.
