The Role of Peter in the Trinitarian Community
"What if I'm living in the kingdom of heaven and no one or nothing can take that away from me?" he asks. "I come to rest in God as he abides and makes his life." Peter was a provincial middle-class fisherman from a village in the Galilee, not an elite from Jerusalem or Athens or Rome. And yet when he gave his allegiance to Jesus, he became the rock. He was given a role to play in the temple or the church of God.
