Three Sheets to the Wind
If you're moving on the ship comfortably, a pirate might say that you've got your sea legs. Three sheets to the wind is an expression which comes from sailing and it's come to mean quite drunk. To batten down the hatches can also be used to day as an idiom there's lots of danger in the air or there's a precarious situation.
