The Death of Don McLean
In 1971, a singer named Lori Lieberman, saw Don McLean perform at the Troubadour Theatre in Los Angeles and she was so moved by the experience that she wrote a poem about it which she relayed to lyricist Norman Gimbal who wrote killing me softly around it. The song became a gargantuan smash for Roberta flack and it was also famously covered by the Fuji's in 1996 but that's notDon McLean's only tie to hip-hop legends. Just loves writing about incredibly beloved widespread massively popular figures who don't need to be eulogized.
