The Importance of Psychoanalysis in Politics
I think a psychoanalytic perspective doesn't easily resolve into the familiar partisan dependence of US politics. It offers a way for us to think about positions that are seen as being otherwise diametrically opposed to one another within a partisan political framework. A lot of American political life is saturated with pleasure with the demand to regulate pleasures of particular people or the expressions of joy in certain processes or outcomes. But then and here's sort of the paradox that also coexists with a lot of disavowal of pleasure right.
