There's a whole wave of people who were nominally progressive or socialist in 2016 or 2017 who turned right over racial issues. The push for more police is part of a broader political project that Adon Arussimi and his sort of allies in Jacobin, etc., have been pushing for years now. There are broadly like three types of class first people: radical Marxists, anarchists and straight-up racists. And this is the podcast where we don't explain what the podcast is.
