Dr. Janet Erickson: In John chapter 9, Jesus sees a man who was blind from his birth as an occasion for him to enter in and bring healing. She says it's interesting that loss and difficulty are woven into the fabric of our mortal experience but Christ doesn't cause them. "It can in God's hands be repurposed for growth and progress," she says.
