Introduction

Gottlob Frager is celebrated as one of the fathers of analytic philosophy. His ambitious project, to analyse language and put mathematics on a secure logical footing, went largely unrecognised in his own lifetime. Burton Russell, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Rudolf Karnap acknowledge Frager's brilliance. Despite Russell's critique of Frager's logical system, Frager's writings are still the starting point for any serious study of analytic Philosophy. Michael Dummett has devoted much of his life to studying Frager.
