Leaves of Grass Is Where You Want to Go to Read Whitman
whitman almost exclusively writes in a form known as free verse. Free verse is essentially poetry with no real metre, so the rhythms of it are often irregular. So yes, leaves of grass is where you want to go to read whitman. And that's the poem i'm reading,. although it's from this little book called on the beach at night alone, it is from leaves of grass. Leaves of grass originally didn't have whitman's name on it, justa he was asked why he hadn't put his name on it later, and he said, how do you put a name on the universe?
