Napoleon's Invasion of the Tuilerie
A few weeks later, the mobs began to gather around the tuilerie. The crowd was angrier and terrified of the approaching coalition army. They took all that rage and fear out on the palace guards. Napoleon watched as the crowd literally tore soldiers apart. Heads and limbs were pulled off of bodies. Corpses were mutilated. Think of an isis video. I don't want to get too graphic here, but the level of violence made a big impact on napoleon. But he certainly didn't feel sorry for the king either. He only solidified his view that the monarchy was too weak and too incompetent to rule.
