Diaphragm is a thin muscle that sits below the lungs and above the liver. When we inhale, provided that we are using what's called diaphragmatic breathing, that diaphragm contracts which allows more space for the lungs to inflate with air. Neurons that control the contraction of muscles also can sense things such as cramps or even death. We'll get back to this later when we talk about physical movement and body movements.
