How to Motivate a Student in Your First Class
I don't teach in my first class. I spend time talking about the class to set up whatever expectations. People come in with such a like, Oh my gosh, you know, some people, I guess stats. And then I want them to leave for excited about this may actually be super cool that I'm going to learn all this stuff. It's very easy teaching to motivate a student, but not everyone in your classroom is going to come in motivated. But if you have a couple students that are into it, right? That can make the difference between feeling good after a class and feeling like, I need to go just look at a wall.
