Lacanian psychoanalysis is not simply a clinical technique. It's about first learning to hear what comes from your own crack, which is exactly what the ego does not have ears to hear. So that's why sometimes you need the help of this expert here, or listener known as the analyst. Their job is to help you hear what your ego is deaf to. The big other is the container for everything that goes on between humans. Freedom itself is not something that is out in the world that you can just run up and shake its hand. That's what Lacan is getting at here.
