The NTSB expedition had $600 for expenses. To a pilot investigating a plane crash isn't about the crash itself, so much as the safe guarding of everyone else that might one day step on a similar plane or fly through that airspace. Pilots are used to seeing huge resources go towards investigations. Climbers spend a lot of time thinking about risk assessment and how not to become fixated on a goal at the expense of their safety.
