What Have We Learned in the Last 50 Years About Systems That Learn?

A lot of these first wave educational reform movements seem to have come from parismati individuals who argue like proto metamodernists. What do we understand about the learning process that may not be well integrated into contemporary schooling yet? That's an interesting question, cause the first my mind was going to a place when you're sort of describing who they were. So i guess my intuition is that we still need to keep refining and coming back to some of the ideals and ideas that have been presented by people from the past. It's not though those are any more, because we've learned so much since then.
