Cars are the most frequent vehicle by which you are likely to encounter police. And we know that cops pull over black and brown drivers at rates that are disproportionately higher than white drivers. When they're pulled over, there's this whole range of possible negative consequences. People can be issued fines and fees they can't afford to pay if they're low income.
