The President Refused to Tell His Supporters to Stop Being Violent on January 6th

Hope Hicks, a longtime Trump employee and advisor, testified today for the first time. She said she spoke to Eric Hirschman about putting out a message that people should be peaceful on January 6th but he refused. Investigators say they didn't know what President Trump would do in his speech or how much rioting would ensue. They were prepared for angry pro-Trump demonstrators - not an insurrectionary attack by those people. But no intelligence community advance analysis predicted exactly how Donald Trump would behave.
